J. P. Andrieux is a businessman and the author of ten books published over a thirty-year period. He was born in Montreal of St. Pierre-Miquelon parents and grew up on Prince Edward Island, where his father was a sea captain on the ferry to New Brunswick. In the 1960s he graduated from Sir George William University (now Concordia University) and began his business career. He is currently engaged in developing several tourism-based businesses in Newfoundland and St. Pierre-Miquelon. J. P. Andrieux is also a lecturer. He has made presentations on many cruise ships on a variety of subjects, including shipwrecks of Newfoundland and St. Pierre-Miquelon, Prohibition and the cod moratorium. He is married to Elizabeth King (originally from Corner Brook) and divides his time between St. John’s and St. Pierre.
